Masashi Nagadoi  CAPE Treasurer, Filmmaker MAPi Productions

Tokyo–born Masashi Nagadoi received a B.A. in International Studies and Economics & Business from Macalester College, St. Paul, Minnesota in 1987, and worked as a business management consultant at Arthur Young International (now Ernst & Young) in Los Angeles. He received a M.F.A. from UCLA’s Graduate Film School in 1994.

Since graduation, he has directed commercials, promotional videos, and produced numerous television shows and documentaries for the Japanese market. His dramatic short film, MOMENT CAFE, won the Gold Award at Worldfest–Houston. His first directorial feature, CRUEL GAME, a.k.a. ANGELE GAME in Japan (with Mako, Jennifer Tung and Victoria Silvstedt) was released on DVD by Universal and aired on Showtime. Currently he directs commercials for clients such as Kyolic, Ajinomoto, Zojirushi, etc. and is coordinating various projects including “Pokemon” for Shogakukan–Syueisha Productions and OLM (Pokemon movies & TV Shows). Masashi appears in the role of Admiral Ichimaru in “Letters from Iwo Jima” directed by Clint Eastwood. Masashi’s first translated book, THE POWER OF FILM (written by UCLA Film School Emeritus Professor Howard Suber, co-translated by Masafumi Mori) has been published in Japan.

As the incumbent Co–Treasurer, Masashi would like to continue making an effort to improve the financial aspects of CAPE that will benefit the members into the exciting future.
