CBS Sketch Comedy Workshop For EWP ACTS and CAPE Members

On May 30th from 2-4pm at CBS Radford, VP of Casting Fern Orenstein and CBS Sketch Comedy Showcase Director Rick Najera will be conducting a comedy workshop. Class size is limited to 12 people. Only submit if you have a strong comedic background with standup, comedy improv, or comedic acting experience.

You will be expected to bring in comedic characters and potential scenarios one might find these characters in. Fern and Rick will observe and follow up with critique. The goal of the workshop is to better prepare actors for CBS’s annual audition for the showcase later this year.

Submission Guidelines – email Marilyn Tokuda (mtokuda@eastwestplayers.org) a one paragraph (or less) description of your comedic background. Include projects, people you’ve studied with and any other relevant information you would like us to know. Also, please list comedic plays/clubs/workshops you’ve been involved with.

Submission Deadline is Wednesday, May 15th.

Fern Orenstein will select 12 participants based on actor submissions.

CAPE is once again partnering with CBS Television Studios for our annual TV Pitch Lab. This signature program is an incredible opportunity for those who want to bring their TV script ideas to life. The CAPE TV Pitch Lab will be a two-night workshop led by CAPE Board Members Steve Tao and Eric Kim.

On Evening 1, Steve, Eric and a panel of experts will give participants valuable insights on how to pitch their stories in a succinct and entertaining way followed by a Q&A portion.

On Evening 2, the top 10 finalists will get the exclusive opportunity to pitch in front of Steve, Eric and top industry professionals. Finalists will be provided invaluable feedback on their pitching style.

In Case You Missed It – CAPE Feature Film Pitch Lab Sponsored by Warner Bros.

CAPE would like to sincerely thank all who attended the highly successful inaugural CAPE Feature Film Pitch Lab last Tuesday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 1. Without the support of CAPE members and advocates, we would not have been able to launch this new educational program so successfully.
