Christina Choe is an award winning filmmaker. Her first feature script, “Performance Art” was selected as the winner of the 2007 CAPE New Writers Award for Best Feature Screenplay, IFP Week Emerging Narrative Program, and placed in the top 20 (out of 2700 scripts) for the 2008 Bluecat Screenwriting Competition.

Her narrative shorts, “The Queen”, “FLOW”, and “I am John Wayne” have been selected for Telluride, Slamdance (Grand Jury Prize for best short), SXSW, Los Angeles Film Festival, and Aspen ShortsFest. In 2012, she participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus and received an M.F.A from Columbia University. She is currently in pre-production for her first feature.

CAPE Presents An Evening With Carrie Ann Inaba was held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Japanese American National Museum. Special thanks to our sponsor Verizon and volunteers for helping make the event possible.

The intimate presentation showcased newest CAPE Board Member Carrie Ann Inaba, as interviewed by CAPE Founder and Co-Chairperson Wenda Fong. Carrie Ann shared her life story and path to success, while offering perspective and inspiration to CAPE members and the Asian American Pacific Islander community.

The evening also marked the launch of CAPE’s I AM Campaign, sponsored thus far by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The film has qualified for several festivals and was nominated best short at the prestigious NY Indian Film Festival.

“Girl from the Naked Eye” In Theaters June 15

Asian American action star Jason Yee’s newest feature, THE GIRL FROM THE NAKED EYE, opens nationwide in theaters near on Friday, June 15th.

Co-written and co-produced by national champion martial artist and lead actor Jason Yee (DARK ASSASSIN), this noir-style character-driven action thriller is directed by David Ren (SHANGHAI KISS) and also features Ron Yuan (FANTASTIC FOUR, BLADE, RUSH HOUR 2, STREET FIGHTER) and fellow Asian American actors in key roles.

CAPE Writing Workshop With Peter Gamble

CAPE is offering an unique, one night only writing workshop with award winning writer and CAPE New Writers Awards 2011 Feature Finalist Peter Gamble.

The workshop will cover a history of screenplay structure, discoveries and flaws of each historical method, synthesis theory, and how to look at your script from various magnifications.

Peter teaches the Deep Structure class at the University of Southern California where he won the Melon Prize for Mentoring Students.  He ghostwrote HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG, and his screenplay THE HARROWING (with Matt Yang King) won second in the CAPE New Writers Awards, runner up at Scriptapalooza, was a semi-finalist for the Nichol Fellowship and was recently optioned by Larrikin Entertainment.

Kollaboration Los Angeles

Kollaboration Los Angeles is coming to the Ford Amphitheatre on July 13, 2012.  In a little more than a decade, Kollaboration has grown tremendously as an organization, with shows in 15 cities across the United States and Canada, and yet, its mission still remains the same.  By providing a creative platform through our talent shows, Kollaboration seeks to empower and encourage Asian Pacific Islander American & Canadian artists to pursue their passions in mainstream media and inspire future generations to do the same.  The winner of this competition will represent LA and be placed in a poll alongside winners of each Kollaboration 2012 event across the nation where the top 7 will be flown into LA for the finale show in November.
