CAPE Advisor Janet Yang’s New Film SHANGHAI CALLING Premieres February 12th

CAPE Advisor Janet Yang’s new film, SHANGHAI CALLING, premieres February 12th at the TCL Theatre (formerly Grauman’s Chinese Theatre) in Hollywood. SHANGHAI CALLING was the opening piece at the 2012 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, the closing piece at the 2012 Newport Beach Film Festival, and won Best Narrative Feature at the 2012 DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival.

The film’s star, Daniel Henney, won Best Actor at the 2012 Newport Beach Film Festival, and Best New Actor at the 2012 Shanghai International Film Festival.


CAPE Presents Awards At Mnet’s First Annual Pre-Grammy Party on February 7th

CAPE will be presenting awards to YouTube sensation David Choi and Monster Products founder Noel Lee at Mnet’s First Annual Pre-Grammy Party on February 7th at East West Studios.

We are thrilled to be a part of this event and grateful to Mnet for choosing CAPE to be the benefitting charity. K-Pop superstar Ailee will be performing at this glamorous party.

CAPE Congratulates Kevin Tsujihara On His Recent WB Promotion

CAPE congratulates Kevin Tsujihara on his recent promotion to CEO at Warner Bros.

He has been at Warner Bros. for 20 years, and is considered one of the company’s most progressive executives. Since 2005, he has served as president of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. His duties included managing the studio’s DVD business, digital distribution, video games, technical operations, and piracy.

Tsujihara assumes his new CEO post on March 1st. “It is an honor to lead this storied business,” said Tsujihara. “We’re at a pivotal moment in the histories of Hollywood and entertainment”.


The Walter Kaitz Foundation Annual Hollywood Creative Forum

The Walter Kaitz Foundation Fourth Annual Hollywood Creative Forum is fast approaching on Wednesday, February 27 at the Hyatt Regency Central Plaza Hotel.

The Forum is a complimentary, invitation-only event targeted at diverse show runners, producers, directors, and writers to promote diversity behind the camera. The program incorporates a full day of sessions and “meet and greets” with cable network and production company executives with a focus on programming and creative content in the non-fiction and reality genres. CAPE Congratulates Advisor Dean Devlin On Upcoming TNT Pilot

CAPE Advisor Dean Devlin will be having a new show on TNT as the cable network has given the greenlight for an upcoming untitled quirkly bounty hunter drama starring Geena Davis. Dean will be directing the pilot and serve as showrunner with his independent company Electric Entertainment set to produce.

Geena Davis will play the role of an unconventional bail bondswoman and bounty hunter whose unique tactics give her an advantage in an otherwise tough business. The show is based on the real-life story of female bounty hunter Mackenzie Green.

YOMYOMF Internet Icon Season 2 Now Open For Submissions

Season 2 of the YOMYOMF Network YouTube competition show “Internet Icon” is now open for submissions. Season 1 of the show had over 10 million views and gave contestants enormous exposure to the YOMYOMF Network’s international audience.

The grand prize includes a $10,000 cash prize, a yearlong development deal with YOMYOMF, and industry meetings. The season one winners Chris and Nick Riedell, also known as The Brothers Riedell, have increased their fans and subscriber numbers from less than 10,000 to 100,000 since “Internet Icon” started.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age to enter and must submit a video between 30 seconds and 2 minutes long to the “Internet Icon” Facebook page. Submission deadline is Thursday, January 21, 2013 at 11:59pm PST. Particpants may submit their video entry as individuals, or as members of a team with a maximum of four people. Full details available here.

Looking for preferably a Mandarin and English-speaking assistant to the partners. Mandarin is not a must though it is a plus, as well as any other languages, being that the company is gearing towards going global. Beverly Hills based company is partnering with major players in the US and China on Films and Television projects, including some of the top writers and directors in town. Great opportunity for an enthusiastic self-starter who wants to grow with a fast evolving company and who can take the initiative to help the partners run a high volume of international dealings with speed and efficiency. Should be prepared for after work calls and hours, as some days could be long with China hours and evening work, dinners, etc. Though to start, this may not be a regular occurrence.

CAPE Board Member Dan Lin Renews 2-Year Deal With Warner Brothers

CAPE Board Member Dan Lin has renewed a 2-year first-look feature deal between Warner Brothers and his own company Lin Pictures. This deal will be a contiuation of the partnership between the two companies that date back to 2008.

Dan has had an amazing track record with Warner Brothers having produced both of the widely successful SHERLOCK HOLMES movies in addition to THE INVENTION OF LYING, TERMINATOR SALVATION, upcoming animated film THE LEGO MOVIE and GANGSTER SQUAD, which releases nationwide today, January 11.

Dan has a separate deal with Warner Brothers Television. Prior to forming Lin Pictures, Dan served as senior VP of Production for Warner Brothers. His most notable work is overseeing Martin Scorsese’s THE DEPARTED.
