Thank you to Keli Lee and her wonderful casting team at ABC for another terrific Casting Workshop! CAPE Casting Participants were automatically given a pre-read for the ABC Showcase.
Here are some helpful tips that came out of the workshop:
- It’s ok to ask for a minute after receiving critique to prep for the next read.
- Send in postcards to the casting directors. It’s a quick and easy way for them to remember you and they have your information on hand.
- Always remember to keep up the energy, regardless of the genre (comedy v. drama).
- Always keep the integrity of your resume-If you haven’t done it or don’t have that special skill, don’t list it!
- Better to mime than use your own props during an audition.
- Remember to always read the character breakdown.
- No matter what you use to display your talent, make sure it’s the best work you have before sending it out (eg. Youtube clips, iPhone videos, etc). Every impression can be a first impression.
Thank you CAPE Members Kat Ahn, Brian Chin, Charles Rahi Chun, Jeff Gadigan, Drea Garcia, Mina Joo, Danni Lang, Brian Metran, Sohee Park, Tyler Ham Pong, Joy Regullano, and Emily Ming-An Wang. And good luck to you all at the pre-read audition for the ABC Showcase!
