Our Community Raises over $29,000 for Philippines Relief

Screen Shot 2013-11-27 at 10.19.19 AM

Dear CAPE Community,

It’s heartwarming to see our members and friends come together in times of need, especially so close to Thanksgiving. CAPE and Verizon decided to forego our annual holiday party and instead use the funds towards an emergency Philippines Typhoon Relief Fundraiser. IW Group also made a cash contribution in lieu of client gift giving. On behalf of the CAPE Board of Directors, the CAPE Council of Advisors, and myself, I’d like to thank each of you for helping us raise over $29,000 for Philippines Typhoon Relief.

A special thank you to CAPE Advisor Dean Devlin who provided matching funds for money raised at the event, which literally doubled our efforts. None of this would be possible without the support of the following people:

Major Cash Donors: Dean Devlin, Verizon, IW Group, Albert Cheng, Leo Chu, Eric Garcia, Chris Lee, Peter McHughKaren Moy

CAPE Emergency Typhoon Relief Committee: Peter McHugh, Fritz Friedman, Gene Eng, Asia Powell, Stephanie Pell, Ruben Nepales, Dean Devlin, Lou Diamond PhillipsKevin Iwashina, Steve Tao, Bill Imada, Adele Yoshioka, Wenda Fong, Jennifer Sanderson

CAPE, Verizon, and IW Group also produced a PSA to assist in raising more funds. The PSA is currently airing on Verizon Fios and will bring in thousand more dollars for Philippines Typhoon Relief.

PSA and Event contributors: Director Ramona Diaz, Capella Fahoome Brogden, Leah Anova, Lou Diamond Phillips, Erika Fong, James Kyson, Tamlyn Tomita, Jasmine Villegas, Thomas Livezey, Sean & Vanessa Monzon, Ania De Pourbaix, Ron Dempsey, Michael Goi, Brian Gonosey, Mark Franco, Sarah Ford, Telly Wang, Narendra Wickremetunge, Johnny Leach, James Huang who won both the silent & the live auction, and Cara Fasone (2013 CAPE New Writers Fellow) who donated her portion of winning the 50/50 chance giveaway.

Each of you made a difference: I leave you with this video message from Senator Pia Cayetano of the Philippines. She heard of our efforts and was moved to record a special thank you to the CAPE community on behalf of the Philippines:

With appreciation, Happy Thanksgiving to all!
