CAPE Executive Director Announces Departure

August 18, 2014

Dear CAPE Friends and Colleagues,

After an amazing five year journey as the Executive Director of CAPE, I will be leaving my post at the end of this year. This was a very tough decision for me, but it’s time to begin the next chapter of my life. When I first moved to Los Angeles in 2008, I had never felt so welcomed by any community before. And now after helping CAPE champion diverse AAPI artists and leaders in entertainment for half a decade, I have been inspired to pursue my own dreams of filmmaking.

I feel so blessed to have seen CAPE grow tremendously. Two years ago, we launched the CAPE New Writers Fellowship, which has seen success in a very short time. Many of this year’s writers have already secured representation and the TV Fellows are all employed on current television shows. I’m also enormously proud of the impact made by our first ever #IAm Campaign — which showcased AAPI role models in entertainment, sports, and media and built awareness for our Mission. #IAM became one of the top four most successful non-profit campaigns in YouTube history, making over 125 million impressions and reaching over 74 million people worldwide.

I am deeply thankful for the best Board of Directors, the wisest Advisory Council, the most generous Sponsors, and the most talented actors, writers, producers and executives that have ever been involved with CAPE. The Board will immediately start a search for a new Executive Director. In the meantime, I have every confidence that Hana Kwon, CAPE’s new Director of Programs & Operations, is more than capable of ensuring a seamless transition.

CAPE has taught me that you can make anything you want happen. Starting as a CAPE volunteer in 2008 and then becoming the first staff member in 2009, I have seen that every success out of our efforts creates even more opportunities for our entire AAPI community. It is my sincere wish that every single one of you will continue to support CAPE, attend events, and donate to the Mission.

As I always say, keep fighting the good fight and I’m always rooting for you.

With my deepest gratitude,
Jennifer-Sanderson-Signature
