CAPE Advisor Ang Lee‘s next project will be an adaptation of Ben Fountain’s novel BILLY LYNN’S LONG HALFTIME WALK. This film will reunite Lee with Tom Rothman at TriStar. Rothman ran Fox and worked closely with Lee on LIFE OF PI, the difficult, groundbreaking, Oscar-winning 3D film that grossed $600 million worldwide.
The story is about a 19-year-old soldier, Billy Lynn, whose squad survived an Iraq battle that was captured on embedded news cameras and made them instant heroes. The U.S. brings home the squad for a promo tour and they are scheduled to return to battle after the tour ends at a halftime show of a Thanksgiving Day football game in Texas. The movie will show flashbacks of what Billy and his platoon mates went through.
