On May 8, 2015, the City of LA honored CAPE, along with Kollaboration and Visual Communications, at its Asian Pacific American Heritage Month opening ceremony at City Hall in downtown Los Angeles. The City of LA recognized the work we have accomplished since 1991 in championing diversity by educating, connecting, and empowering Asian American & Pacific Islander artists and leaders.
As we head into our 25th Anniversary next year, we are truly honored by this recognition and look forward to another 25 years!

After a thorough nationwide search, CAPE’s Board of Directors is excited to announce the appointment of Michelle K. Sugihara as the new Executive Director.
“We’re thrilled that Michelle has joined the CAPE team as an integral part of our organization,” said Wenda Fong, CAPE Co-Founder and Interim Executive Director. “Michelle’s non-profit experience, strong community ties and legal background make her well-positioned to lead CAPE and take us to the next level. Her ability to address issues both analytically and creatively will serve her well as Executive Director.”
As Executive Director, Michelle will lead the organization and advance CAPE’s mission of “championing diversity by educating, connecting and empowering AAPI artists and leaders in entertainment and media” by focusing on fundraising, programming, strategic growth and operations.

The 26-year-old actress made her big stage debut this week in the first preview performance of a revival of the romantic musical comedy Gigi, now playing at the Neil Simon Theatre. She plays the title character. The show is set to open officially on April 8.
Masi Oka is set to reprise his role as wide-eyed time/space jumper Hiro Nakamura on “Heroes Reborn”. Oka joins fellow “Heroes” alum Jack Coleman, who is reprising his role as Noah Bennet. Coleman is a lead in the event series alongside new addition Zachary Levi.
Theresa Won was recently promoted to Director, Production & Acquisitions at Myriad Pictures from her previous role as Manager.

Film Independent’s Screenwriting Lab is designed to help screenwriters develop and express their unique voices as writers to take their current scripts to the next level. Through meetings with lab mentors, outside advisors, and other writers in the program, Fellows will receive personal feedback and the necessary tools to revise and refine their scripts for production.
