Synopsis: A tough Chinese waitress who spends her nights fighting demons suspects that a rival coworker at the family restaurant is a demon whose next victim is her favorite customer and crush. On May 30th from 2-4pm at CBS Radford, VP of Casting Fern Orenstein and CBS Sketch Comedy Showcase Director Rick Najera will be conducting a comedy workshop. Class size is limited to 12 people. Only submit if you have a strong comedic background with standup, comedy improv, or comedic acting experience.
You will be expected to bring in comedic characters and potential scenarios one might find these characters in. Fern and Rick will observe and follow up with critique. The goal of the workshop is to better prepare actors for CBS’s annual audition for the showcase later this year.
Submission Guidelines – email Marilyn Tokuda ([email protected]) a one paragraph (or less) description of your comedic background. Include projects, people you’ve studied with and any other relevant information you would like us to know. Also, please list comedic plays/clubs/workshops you’ve been involved with.
Submission Deadline is Wednesday, May 15th.

It will be an information session with NBC Universal Executives Karen Horne (Vice President of Entertainment Diversity Initiatives), Grace Wu (Executive Vice President of Casting), and Kendra Carter (Director of NBCU Talent Diversity Initiatives) to discuss the opportunities available within the NBCU Talent Diversity programs. NBC Universal’s talent development program includes Writers on the Verge, NBC Scene Showcase, NBC’s Director Fellowship Program, and the Casting Apprentice Program to name a few.

THE LANGUAGE ARCHIVE is currently playing at East West Players at the David Henry Hwang Theater until this Sunday, December 4th, 2011.
The comedy is about George, a linguist, a master of languages, who cannot express his love for his wife–and ends up losing her. Follow this whimsical and heartbreaking look at love and language that asks, “How do we save what is dying?” The cast features Jennifer Chang, Kimiko Gelman, Nelson Mashita, Jeanne Sakata, and Ryun Yu.
