Chief of Staff | CAPE

Grace Kao is the Chief of Staff at CAPE, a non-profit organization that champions diversity by connecting, educating, and empowering Asian American and Pacific Islander artists and leaders in entertainment and media. She is second-generation Taiwanese-American, born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley.

She graduated with a major in English Literature from UC Berkeley, where she also helped develop the Human Rights Interdisciplinary minor. Afterwards, Grace received her law degree from Yale Law School. While at Yale Law School, she chaired the Asian and Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA) and Alliance for Diversity, an umbrella organization for the law school's affinity groups. In New York, she worked as a nonprofit attorney for underserved immigrant survivors of domestic violence at the New York Legal Assistance Group.

Prior to joining CAPE, Grace was the founding Director of Operations at Compound, an art and culture nonprofit located in Long Beach. Grace has also previously worked in Operations and Visitor Engagement at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) and The Broad in downtown LA. While not working, she can be found walking her cat Crooks (who she rescued from the streets of Little Tokyo), dabbling in film photography and development, and browsing Skylight Books. Grace was also a co-producer on JAMOJAYA (2023).
