KENNY PARK

Head of Story, Netflix Animation

Kenny Park is an Emmy-nominated director, Annie award-winning story artist and an editorial illustrator. He is currently Head of Story on the Netflix feature film THE WITCH BOY.

Park’s love of animation began in grade school with a fascination for Japanese animated shows (DRAGON BALL Z and SAILOR MOON) along with western comics (X-MEN and BATTLE CHASERS). A mix of eastern and western sensibilities continues to influence his work today.

In 2000, Park attended the Capilano University Commercial Animation program in Vancouver, Canada, and shortly after graduating was hired as the lead character designer on Class of the Titans. For a number of years he worked as a designer and storyboard artist for television and, in 2009, he attended the Walt Disney Feature Story Trainee program, where he began transitioning to work as a story artist on feature films.

While working in story, Park simultaneously began a career in editorial illustration. His work has appeared in The Washington Post, Reader’s Digest, Wired, and The Boston Globe; he has also been commissioned to illustrate book covers.

In 2018, Park directed the first two seasons of the Netflix Original series CARMEN SANDIEGO, and in 2020 was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Best Direction. His storyboards for the pilot episode went on to win an Annie award for Outstanding Achievement for Storyboarding in an Animated TV Production.

Park lives in Vancouver with his husband and their dog, Murphy.
