GRACE TRAN

Manager, Scripted Programming, Universal International Studios

Grace Tran is currently Manager of Scripted Programming at Universal International Studios. She hails from the San Gabriel Valley area, with her family having settled in the region after being displaced from the Vietnam War. Having grown up in a multilingual household, her family unknowingly cultivated her appetite for international content, as she fondly remembers both Hong Kong and American series constantly playing the background of her childhood.

While in college, Grace majored in Communication with a minor in Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. Fight On! During that time, she had the opportunity to work with Professor Stacy L. Smith at the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative (AII), the leading global think tank studying issues of inequality in entertainment for a year and a half. She leans on her experience and knowledge from her time at AII in her current role as a television executive and strives to champion diverse voices across all Universal International projects.

Grace has long been part of the Universal International family, as she was an intern in the division her last semester of college. Upon graduation, she worked at CAA in the marketing division before returning to the International Studios family in late 2017 as a coordinator. During her time at Universal, she has worked on both the creative and business affairs side. Some of her current projects include: WE ARE LADY PARTS (Peacock/Channel4), TRANSPLANT (NBC/ CTV), and THE UNDECLARED WAR (Peacock/Channel 4). She continues to be incredibly excited by the creative and business opportunities in the international marketplace and loves bridging the culture gap with international partners.

In addition to her work, Grace loves the outdoors and travel! She hopes to travel to every National Park in the United States and has already checked off 25/63! She ran the Berlin marathon in 2019 and hopes to run one more international marathon before hanging up her trainers.
