HOW WE CAN HELP YOU CHANGE THE STORY

CAPE works to change the stories Hollywood tells about Asian American & Pacific Islander communities. We offer script consulting and cultural sensitivity readings, workshops and trainings, talent referrals and more.

With the increasing spotlight on violence against our communities, it is vital that we tell authentic and accurate stories to combat stereotypical, harmful, and dangerous representations in entertainment media.

CONSULTATIONS

We partner with content creators and decision makers to create authentic, nuanced portrayals and narratives of Asian and Pacific Islander communities. CAPE has experience in cultural consulting on a wide variety of projects from globally-released, studio feature films to social media marketing campaigns pertaining to Asian and Pacific Islander communities.

Services include (but not limited to):

  • Script Consulting and Cultural Sensitivity Reading (Episodic, Feature Films, PSAs and more.)

  • Early Cut or Rough Cut and/or Storyboard Reviews.

  • Publicity and marketing (publicity campaigns, hands-on media training for talent, etc.)

  • Referrals to Talent (Writers, Actors, Directors, Casting Directors, Below-The-Line and more) from the Largest Database of Asian American and Pacific Islander talent.

  • Referrals to Cultural Experts.

  • Referrals to Translators and Language and Dialect Coaches.

For the most effective partnership, we advise bringing CAPE onto the creative process as early as possible.

WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS

Bring CAPE in for a workshop, presentation, or moderated discussion on Asian American and Pacific Islander representation and history in entertainment media. Topics covered include common racial stereotypes and tropes to avoid, the impact of media depictions on our society, and best practices and potential solutions. The session includes time for an audience Q&A and can be customized according to audience interests and knowledge.

We offer the presentations, workshops and trainings both virtually and in-person (with COVID-safe protocols).
